John Sutton – Founder and Chief Arborist
Experience and Expertise:
With over 37 years in the arboricultural industry, John Sutton, the founder and chief arborist of Sutton Consulting Arborist, Inc., is a seasoned professional deeply rooted in the world of trees. Growing up in West Monroe, Louisiana, John’s early exposure to the family-owned sawmill ignited his passion for trees. After serving in the US Air Force, John embarked on a journey in tree climbing, earning certification as an arborist in 1986 and achieving ISA Certified Arborist status in 1992.
In 1988, John relocated to South Florida, where he served as a foreman before establishing Sutton Consulting Arborist, Inc. in 1996. John’s commitment to continuous education is reflected in his certifications, including becoming a Certified Landscape Inspector in 2002 and a graduate of The American Society of Consulting Arborist Academy in 2006.
Professional Accomplishments:
John’s professional journey spans inter-regional climates, from North Carolina to California and Florida to the Caribbean. He has played pivotal roles in diverse landscaping projects, from golf course construction and industrial park development to advising on historical and champion trees.
John’s arboricultural expertise has been instrumental in the care of notable trees, such as The Champion Green Buttonwood tree in Palm Beach, Florida, the oldest and largest of its kind in the United States. Noteworthy projects include Trump International Golf Club, The Boca Resort and Club, and The Breakers Resort of Palm Beach. Post-2004-05 hurricanes, John appraised damages to trees and landscapes for numerous resorts and golf courses.
