Tree Work
The phrase "tree work" can refer to any number of procedures one can have performed on a tree. Oftentimes, tree work simply means trimming, but it can mean something as complex as tree relocation. At Sutton Consulting Arborists, we specialize in anything and everything there is to know about trees and tree work. We work with clients of all sizes, and we work hard to ensure that your valuable trees are well taken care of. If you are considering having your trees trimmed, it is important to understand the proper method for trimming. More importantly, one should understand the improper method for trimming, referred to as "topping." Topping, also known as dehorning and stubbing, is a process whereby most of a branch of a tree is chopped off, leaving the tree nearly leafless. (Topped trees have the unsightly appearance of having been run over by a giant lawn mower.) Topping trees is not only a non-aesthetic way to trim them; it is also harmful to the tree's health. Topping is often a misguided attempt to keep a tree small, but the truth is that the tree will only grow back faster after it has been robbed of its much-needed leaves. If the topped tree does stop growing, that simply means that it has died, or is on the road to an untimely death. Healthy Maintenance Is the Key |
