Tree Maintenance
Many people tend to forget that trees are living, breathing organisms that need to be tended to every now and again. Because of their stately presence, most people consider trees to be permanent fixtures that need not be cared for (other than the occasional watering). The truth is that for a tree to really thrive, a proper maintenance schedule should be adhered to. When you first plant a tree, be mindful of the disturbed root system. Newly planted trees often require steady, deep watering in order to help promote the development of deep root systems. By watering consistently and being careful not to over water, you can help avoid adding additional stress to the tree's life-support system. It's not just newly planted trees that need maintenance, though. Established trees should be looked after as well to ensure they are free from pests and disease. In Florida, for example, the disease called lethal yellowing can be a very serious threat to palm trees, especially coconut palms. Being able to detect lethal yellowing early can help contain the disease and keep it from spreading to other palms. Consulting with a Certified Arborist |
