Golf Course Construction
Golf course construction is a highly detailed process that requires all the skills and knowledge of the very best arborists. Keeping the greens perfectly trimmed and healthy requires constant attention to detail, and the maintenance of the various trees and other flora on the golf course only adds to the problem. At Sutton Consulting Arborists, we specialize in large-scale projects like golf course construction and we can help oversee every aspect of the process. Part of the real beauty of a properly maintained golf course are the greens. Maintaining a perfect golf lawn is a science. One must know when and how much to fertilize, when and how much to aerate, and when and how much to water. Additionally, the USGA (United States Golf Association) also recommends that the lawn be allowed to "rest" for a period to avoid extraneous damage. A good arborist has to be able to correctly manage the conflicts between trees and turf grasses. In states like Florida, the complications can sometimes pile up even further. Many golf courses in the state like to take advantage of Florida's semi-tropical climate by planting a wide variety of exotic trees and flora. If these plantings are performed willy-nilly, this can cause a host of future problems as the plants mature. It is important to place trees in areas where shade will not be a problem for turf grasses, or to plant trees that do not have a dense foliage. Trees have different canopy densities--some trees are less dense than others and shade grasses can live and thrive under the canopy of such less dense canopy trees. Par for the Course |
