Certified Arborists

In most professions, there is a certain level of skill knowledge that is necessary to enter the field. For example, attorneys must pass a bar exam in order to practice law, and therapists must be licensed in order to provide therapy. For arborists who hope to excel in their field, there are a number of certifications available. At Sutton Consulting Arborists, we are certified by a number of arborist associations, including the International Society of Arboriculture, the Florida Landscape Inspectors Association, and the American Society of Landscape Architects.

For arborists intent on rising to the top of their field, being a member of the International Society of Arboriculture is a must. The International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) has been around since 1924, when it was founded by a small group of 40 concerned individuals. There are currently more than 16,000 members.

The ISA has a number of different certifications available, each of which has various requirements. Some of the certifications include Utility Specialist, Municipal Specialist, Climber Specialist, and Master Arborist. In order to become an ISA Certified Arborist, one must have at least three years experience dealing with tree care.

We Are Dedicated to Continuing Education
One of the most interesting aspects of the ISA certification process is that even once an arborist is certified, they still must continue their education in order to maintain their ISA Certified Arborist status. At Sutton Consulting Arborists, we take pride in our ISA certification. We are also members of the American Society of Consulting Arborists (ASCA). Membership in this society requires five or more years of experience in the industry, as well as a four-year arboriculture degree (or at least 240 hours of continuing education units). We welcome the ability to continually increase our knowledge base so that we might pass this knowledge onto our clients.
